Management
Hockey Night in Canada's Play On! was founded and is managed nationally by Scott Hill of Brainex Canada (Sports) Ltd.
The organization has directed the execution of all sixty-eight Play On! events held thus far, including six national championships, involving participation of over 790,000 Canadians.
Brainex Canada (Sports) Ltd. is the name of the holding company that Play On! operates under. The company incorporated as a for-profit organization but is motivated by a desire to make Canada and the sport of hockey better. It has significantly increased awareness for dozens of not-for profits and has contributed over four hundred thousand dollars to charities to date.
During the NHL lockout, Scott worked in Deloitte's Strategy & Operations Consulting practice. In this capacity, he consulted on projects at organizations including a major Canadian bank, a major lumber and building supplies retailer, a Provincial Ministry, two major Universities, and multiple municipalities. He holds a BSc from the University of Alberta (where he graduated with distinction) and an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario. While at Western, he was President of the Ivey Hockey Club, and founded the Ivey Cup, the world’s largest hockey tournament for business students. He has played a lot of hockey in his life and was known as the guy who always smiled while on the ice. Though he likes to describe himself as a pretty average hockey player, he won his last game at every level played.
Scott is most passionate about sports, community, business, and family. He and his wife Cassandra reside near London, Ontario and are the proud parents of five young children, with another on the way. He would rather watch his kids play hockey than do any other thing. Scott also currently serves as a lay minister, something he finds incredibly rewarding, overseeing a congregation of about 500.
Each Hockey Night in Canada's Play On! event is operated under the direction of the Play On! national office by regionally-based sports marketing / event management professionals, and under a licensing agreement. The credit for Play On! really goes to each of these organizations, and the more than one-hundred individuals that will work on Play On! this summer.
