CBC, Play On! Announce New Agreement
Thursday, December 17, 2009
As part of the agreement, CBC will annually continue to provide a full range of promotion of the Play On! program within CBC's Hockey Night in Canada broadcasts, online at CBCSports.ca and much more. The agreement also ensures that the Play On! National Championship event will remain a fixture as part of Tim Hortons Hockey Day in Canada programming for five more years.
"We're very pleased to have the continued support of Canada's pre-eminent broadcaster in the ongoing development of the Play On! program," said Scott Hill, program founder and National Program Director. "CBC and CBC's Hockey Night in Canada have been true Partners in the building of Play On! into what is now Canada's largest Sports festival."
The agreement will also ensure that Play On! events will operate in the downtown streets of even more centres across Canada, allowing even more Canadians to participate in these events that embrace the most pure and innocent form of their favourite game.
"CBC's Hockey Night in Canada is proud to continue our participation in the Play On! program for another five seasons," said David Masse, senior director, CBC Sports. "These family-friendly events are as much about community spirit as they are about skilled street hockey competition. Regardless of ability, anyone and everyone can participate. We're excited to be a part of it and to see the program continue to grow in the seasons ahead."
