CBC Hockey Night in Canada's Play On! Congratulates Team Canada Junior Luke Adam

Thursday, January 7, 2010 (St. John's, Newfoundland & Labrador)

On Behalf of Blizzard Sports and Entertainment, organizers of Play On! St. John's, we would like to wish congratulations to St. John's native Luke Adam on his performance with Team Canada at the recent IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships held in Saskatchewan. Adam had four goals and four assists in six games for the eventual silver medal-winners, including a goal and an assist in a 6-5 overtime loss to the United States in the championship game.

An alumnus of the inaugural Play On! St. John's this past summer, Luke played a key role on the Idea Factory Sting Rays, who won the Elite Division championship held on the campus of Memorial University.

Adam, who has 25 goals and a team-leading 52 points in 33 games for the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, is a 2008 second round draft pick of the Buffalo Sabres.

As quoted in the The Telegram, Adam agrees the experience of the pressure-packed, high-profile tournament that was the world championship will benefit him in the short term in Cape Breton and in the long term as he pursues a pro career.

Congratulations once again Luke, well done!
