OTTAWA, ON – Play On! Ottawa brought to you by Pro Hockey Life is pleased to announce a partnership with both the Ottawa District Hockey Association (ODHA) as well as the Ottawa Blues Ball Hockey Association (OBBHA).
The partnership aims to help promote and grow interest in hockey, both ice and ball hockey, in the city of Ottawa and its surrounding areas by taking the version of the game back where it first started for everyone – on the street.
“The Ottawa Blues Ball Hockey Association is very excited about this partnership. Our 4-F motto of Fun, Fitness, Friendship and Fair-play is a perfect fit with Play On! Together we can continue to grow the wonderful game of ball hockey” said John Struthers, president, Ottawa Blues Ball Hockey Association who as a member of the OBBHA Blues team advanced to the Play On! National Championships after playing in their first Ottawa event last year.
The ODHA is responsible for hockey on the ice across the Ottawa region which includes over 28,000 minor hockey players and during its peak season, has over 300 games per day.
“It is with great pride that we welcome the Ottawa Blues Ball Hockey Association to the Canadian and Ottawa Hockey family. If it’s played with a hockey stick it must be hockey” said Richard Waldroff, president, Ottawa District Hockey Association.
Mike Harper, Event Director of Play On! Ottawa had this to say about the newly formed partnership between the three organizations, “Play On! Ottawa is pleased that we are able to forge relationships with both sides of the grassroots hockey community in the Ottawa Region. By partnering with both the OBBHA and the ODHA we are not only able to ensure that we can now reach both ice hockey and ball hockey participants, we can hopefully also provide a bridge for kids and adults alike to use hockey as a healthy activity year round either on the ice or court.”
