Partners in Sport: Play On! Canada and Canadian Ball Hockey Association

Partnership between CBHA and Play On! Canada started in 2003

The Canada Ball Hockey Association (CBHA) continues to build strong relationships with our Provincial and community members across Canada as we strive to provide an affordable sport that anyone can play.

Ball Hockey brings together players of all skill levels and provides an avenue for them to play whether recreationally or competitively. Our local community leagues offer programs for players starting at the ages of 4 and run well into 40+ range.

The CBHA supports many additional opportunities and experiences through our amazing sport in partnership with others who share our commitment to growing the game. One of the programs we sanction is Play On! Canada.

Play On! Canada provides exclusively street-based and festival programming that complements the programming offered by the Canada Ball Hockey Association. Play On! Canada offers recreational and competitive 3on3 street hockey programming for individuals of all ages, any gender, and all experience levels. Play On! Canada also offers a national street championship event for men, women, mixed gender, and Indigenous participants.

The partnership between the CBHA and Play On! Canada began in 2003, and throughout the years our organizations have collaborated on event management, officiating, partnership development, promotions, and database sharing. Several players who have played for Team Canada were first introduced to the sport through a Play On! event. Play On! Canada was one of the official sponsors for this year’s International Street Ball Hockey Federation World championships held in Laval, Quebec, sponsoring Team Canada’s Men’s and Women’s teams. Team Canada was privileged to win Gold in both Men’s and Women’s divisions. Play On! Canada has also facilitated the equipment and travel needs of several Team Canada players to world championships events.

Partnerships like ours are crucial to provide positive introductory street hockey experiences to newcomers to hockey and newcomers to Canada in communities from coast to coast. We look forward to building stronger community engagement as we bring this amazing event to a community near you!

Sincerely,

Tim McKenzie
President
